"Clinical investigation has showed us that the orgasm function is the key to the problem of energy. Neuroses are the consequence of stagnation, of sexual energy stasis. The cause of this stasis is a disturbance in the discharge of a great sexual excitation in the organism, is this perceived or not by the Ego... The daily clinical experience does not leave room to doubts: The elimination of sexual stasis by means of orgastic discharge of biological excitation makes all kind of neurotic manifestation disappear. The difficulty offered by this solution is, generally, of social nature".

Orgonomy's main discovery was the orgastic pulsation of alive plasma. The true beginning of any disturbance, psychic or physical, is the alteration of this vital pulse.
As stated in the first part of this study on sexual disfunctions (Orur n°43) we came up with:

"Psychic health depends on the orgastic power, this is, on the release capacity at sexual excitation acme during natural sexual intercourse. Its foundation is the non-neurotic attitude of love capacity.

"The orgastic power would then be considered, the reference health parameter.

"In the case of the orgastic impotence, suffered by an enormous majority of human beings, the biological energy is blocked and it becomes the source of most different manifestations of irrational conducts and pathologies in general. Sexual energy not fully discharged during a sexual intercourse is accumulated in the body,in organs, and creates a libidinal stasis that constitutes the somatic-energetic nucleus of neuroses.

"Psychic disorders cure requires, in first term, the reestablishment of the natural love capacity. This depends both on social and psychic conditions.

These statements have been valid throughout the years in order to understand and approach the disease from an holistic and functional point of view. However, are they still valid nowadays?, is it possible to maintain the orgastic power as the reference health parameter despite of energetic changes occurred during the last decade?, which characteristics are observed on sexual repression nowadays?

In the article on SAFA (Orur n°39) we asked ourselves about spontaneous disarmouring. This fact, proved by the orgonomic clinic, led us to review very important issues like the relationship between the sexual repression and the organic capacity to maintain it; this is, the possibility of chronic blockades permanence, as described by Reich in his definition of different characters.

In our daily therapeutic work we found that too rigid people maintained their armour, as reported by Reich, although with a new particularitity: stiffness was increased to a point that led the organism to a crisis situation, being this one the main reason for consultation. In other words, the armour had reached its peak expression and demanded a resolution.

Meanwhile, sensations on people with more flexibility were increased to the point of becoming intolerable, and in most cases, preventing them from a proper contact with the environment. In the rest of the cases, we faced an abrupt dismantling of the blockades in spontaneous way (SAFA)

Reich's concept of armour stratification was the starting point for the discussions that helped us understand what was happening. Broadly speaking, human beings would consist of three layers:
"In the surface he wears the artificial mask of
selfcontrol, the compulsive and false kindness of artificial sociality. This covers the second layer, the "freudian unconscious" where the sadism, greed, lewdness, envy, perversions of all kind, etc., remain subject, without loosing none of their power. This second layer is the consequence of a culture that denies sexuality; at conscious level, it is only experienced like an abysmal inner emptiness. Behind this second layer and in the depths, the natural sociality and sexuality live and operate, the spontaneous enjoyment of work, the ability to love. That third and deep layer, that represents the biological nucleus of human structure, is unconscious and very feared." 1

There were no doubts that the human armouring had been able to remain stable thanks to environmental conditions, and now were precisely those conditions that were changing. Climate change, known by all, represented a modification at global level of unusual outcomes.

This environmental modification implied a readjustment, a re-structuration that jeopardized the whole organism. It was obvious that the armour structure began to crack, and would do it from the most superficial, ie from the artificial self-control mask, with the collapse of Ego's defenses, disclousing those secondary impulses of the "freudian unconscious", mobilizing personal history contents and invading the body with sensations.

This understanding led us to redefine concepts and parameters, to review the health and disease criteria and to rethink sexuality within a new context. These working hypotheses will be exhibited in the next issue.

He was under the lamp, in a little cradle and in an immensity of cold. Along with the darkness of fear, the luminous rigor blinded his little eyes exhausted of weeping, affliction and horror. The tight fists seemed to cling to that deep nothingness, to that intense emptiness that would be his world. The consumption, the pain and agony of contact were shaping for always that small body weak and helpless.
It was difficult not to imagine a future of horror, unfortune and death. If between his hands was, almost present, the lethal weapon with which he could act personifying his destiny! If in his face he had, evident at moments, that monster only distant because of the time!
It was impossible not to presume the cowardness, or perhaps the arrogance - peculiar kind of impotence- with which he would surround his acts.
Meters further, in a precarious little room, his mother rocked in the chest to that bed that nobody prepared close to him.
Meters more here, a pile of ignorants boasted flagrant of their effectiveness and persistence. Meanwhile, amid the farce and the noise, a contained weeping appeared to me unwittingly...
How they cannot see it? Is it because they fear to feel it? Do they not understand the life? Is it for that reason that they annihilate it?
I approached again to watch - face to face ! - that lost boy... a suckling baby who hardly would taste life.
And I left slowly, failed and absent, remembering in the belly the pain of the wound.

Anger, annoyance, rage...

Why this renewed sense of quarrel, wrath? Why this anger with the world that surrounds me? Has my anger and rage some unknown reason, different to what my reason states?

Quarrel, wrath, annoyance, anger, rage... whatever the term used to define it, there is a common description that summarizes this state:
the irruption of an uncontrolled internal force that is perceived like hostility towards the world, as hatred and mistrust against almost everything that surrounds us

What do we know about this hostility, of this violence?
In the last decade of century XIX, Freud manages to state that during psychoanalytic treatment a particular moment exists in which the patient's hostility is present:"the patient, until then so good and so loyal, becomes rude, false or rebellious, simulator"1. . Freud would understand this stage as a stage of resistance to the cure.

But... how do you explain that who visited the doctor's office to be "cured" resisted precisely to "cure"?

The psychoanalytic work intended to bring psychic repressed contents to the patient's conscience, and after that, symptoms would disappear. Each patient's attitude which is against accessing his unconscious, is denominated by Freud as "resistance".In this way, resistance was discovered as an obstacle to elucidate symptoms and cure's progression. It is therefore understood, that the resistance is a defense exerted by the Ego, who intends to leave the repressed thing in its place; the cure is considered by the Ego as a new danger.
What does the patient resist? This question was for Freud an enigma without solution
by those years.

Later on, with the concept of psychophysic armour, Wilhelm Reich was able to figure out that the patient resists the analysis with the repetition of his own character traits. Understanding throught this line of reasoning that character armour is the factor that maintains repression, Reich intends to attack, to unravel, to dismantle, to eliminate and to destroy that armour; with the inevitable risk that the subject, evicted from his refuges, be imprisoned by panic and throw the forces at his disposal against another or against himself. 2

Responding then the pending freudian enigma, Reich's studies figured out the issue: human beings fear to face their own unknown aspects; human beings "need" to maintain their unconscious motionless; each human being has tried this from moment of the birth by the means of gradual construction of his particular psychophysic armour and his character traits constant repetition.

An inexorable question decanted from the previous reflections: why does violence show when repressed content is near the conscience? Or, in another way, why does violence show when the armour is mobilized?
The balance gained as a result of armouring allows human beings to maintain certain amounts of energy blocked in different parts of their bodies. Thus, we believe we can control everything: we imagine a secure life; avoid conflict, not dealing with pain or loss, not stopping at "empty thoughts"; we can deceive the uncertainty, the doubt, the perplexity; thus, we think we are strong and invulnerable.
For different reasons, due to a personal search, traumatic experiences (separations, for example) or due to present climate-environmental alterations, the armour is cracked, is weakened, cleft.
The defensive deficiencies produced in the armour release high amounts of repressed energy; the unconscious contents then try to reach the conscience. It is at this point when we are close to dive into the unknown of ourselves, we are close to experiment a personal change, to tolerate what at other moments, we could not tolerate, to resolve and to confront what long ago we did not want to observe; we face internal doors closed for a long time.

In many cases, intolerance to this new situation will lead to the emergence of an inner uncontrolled strength and experienced as hostility towards the world, as hatred and mistrust against almost everything that surrounds us. It will make the world to be perceived as "the guilty", and this interpretation will be reinforced with a variety of reasons.
Thus, feeling the hostile tendency against the world and with substantive arguments supporting it, the subject "discharges" in different violent acts the energy that he does not tolerate, partially recovering the strength of its own Ego defenses.

We can then say that anger and the rage against the environment are nothing more than a primitive Ego defense, a renewed attempt to maintain control, command.
We can then assert that anger and rage are not more than a defense against unknown personal aspects; a new bet to the power of the denial and control.
